Unfortunately, the lack of economic resources, political crisis and diseases slow down the development in the sphere of construction. That is why our main intention was to find a way to build more with less material and limited resources. Education is a necessary basis for the children in Senegal in order to be able to improve their lives and get out of poverty. That is the reason why it is so important to inspire the kids to learn and explore. The adequate environment is the essential need for the school to function. Rural areas in Senegal live in communities where social events are playing a huge role. That is the reason why we started reflecting as well about the space that can welcome its visitor and allow him to be a part of the group. To find the solution for stated problems, we believe that the answer can be hidden around us, in our environment, since it's the most encouraging resource. The shape that appears in nature is a hexagon, it can be seen in honeycomb, snowflakes or turtle shells. Analyzing this fascinating form, we discovered multiple advantages of using such a shape for Senegal’s school proposal, located in the village of Boussoura, region of Kolda. The hexagon shape has the most appropriate geometric form for the maximum use of a given space. It provides more usable area for a minimal cell wall material. The hexagon shape guided us to the triangular grid with angles of 60 degrees. Starting with the basis of a hexagon, the shape became to transform to respond to the needs of a school. The spaces in between the modules convert into vegetation areas and buffer zones. The roof is composed of the set of inclined planes in different directions joined along their longitudinal edges. In this way the structural system is capable of supporting big loads without the need for additional structural elements. Wooden beams follow as well the triangular grid creating a fascinating exposed structure for interior spaces. For easier construction, only 2 angles were used to create the roof: 45 and 30 degrees. The most top spaces on the roof provide openings to ensure natural ventilation. Since all these openings are oriented to the north side there is no risk of overheating and the spaces are illuminated with indirect light. The slight slope of the long sides of the roof helps for the rainwater collection that can be used for the school garden and bathrooms. La distribución de la casa es la siguiente: planta baja-servicios; primer nivel-área pública, y la planta alta-área privada. Además posee un patio central como elemento articulador: desdibujando así el límite del espacio interior y el exterior. La cocina es un ejemplo claro de esto: ¿dónde está el afuera y el adentro?. El proyecto, en general, puede ser un área de interacción modulable: tiene la capacidad de adaptarse a diferentes eventos; el usuario puede conectar o disgregar los espacios, dependiendo la posición de los canceles y cortinas. Un modelo sustentable de uso y gestión del agua forma parte de esta edificación, la cual reconoce las necesidades del cliente y del sitio. Así, la gestión del vital líquido abastece a las áreas verdes sembradas de manera estratégica dentro y a los alrededores de la casa. En la planta alta se encuentra un jardín formado por vegetación xerófila, entre otras más, las cuales producen un microclima donde la fauna silvestre es bienvenida a cohabitar. Es un santuario donde el diseño genera un puente con el cielo y el recurso esencial que ofrece: la lluvia. Así el paisajismo va más allá de lo contemplativo, y reafirma los elementos endémicos, planta a planta, flor a flor, sobreponiéndose a los rascacielos. implementan pisos suspendidos con estructura de madera, considerando el montaje y los detalles, usando el proyecto ubicado en Birmingham Smithfield como caso de estudio.” Birmingham Smithfield, UK, es un plan maestro que pretende rehabilitar y reusar el área central de la ciudad, dividiéndola en 5 zonas: cultural, comercial, tecnológica, vivienda y espacio público. Alineado estos requerimientos de la ciudad, mi proyecto se emplaza en lo que anteriormente era el mercado de Birmingham. Conceptualmente la idea es traer lo rural y lo natural a una de las ciudades históricamente más industrializadas. Por este motivo, propongo una galería con jardín botánico, traducida en 2 volúmenes, que articulan el contexto urbano a través de recorridos, desniveles y plazas. Estas edificaciones utilizan una cimentación de concreto, de donde nacen 14 marcos de madera laminada –GLT– de 15 metros de altura a cada 8 metros con un claro de 16 metros, unidos entre sí. Una vez teniendo esta envolvente estructural, los pisos se suspenden con elementos de madera y acero. La finalidad de estas plataformas, es&nbsp; generar recorridos a diferentes alturas, para poder visualizar la vegetación y las exposiciones culturales y artísticas. Así, la planta baja queda libre de apoyos, permitiendo el crecimiento de la vegetación en un espacio semiabierto que genera un microclima. experimentar varias posibilidades de suspender un piso con madera laminada en edificaciones de equipamiento a gran escala. Metodológicamente realice un análisis de edificaciones paradigmáticas que trabajan a tensión, sin importar el material con el que fueron hechas, asociado a propiedades arquitectónicas, técnicas y estructurales. Finalmente comparándolas se agruparon en 5 tipos de estructuras suspendidas: núcleo, armadura, puente, arco y losa. En conclusión, la madera trabajando a tensión eficienta las secciones, reduciendo considerablemente el volumen de madera laminada, como consecuencia tenemos espacios más versátiles en donde las estructuras no interfieren. De igual manera experimentar con estructuras híbridas –uso de diferentes materiales– brinda otras soluciones técnicas-arquitectónicas donde cada material trabaja en función de sus propiedades y capacidades, además de utilizar articulación de uniones reversibles que ayudan a la prefabricación y el montaje de elementos estructurales. El concepto de la casa es un núcleo técnico que combina las necesidades básicas para la vida: dormir, comer, bañarse, trabajar y socializar,&nbsp; este cuenta con una envolvente –muros y cubierta– completamente independiente y flexible que tiene como función albergar al núcleo. La casa se diseñó para 2 habitantes, para transportarse existe la posibilidad de dividirse en 2 partes: 1-Base, de forma rectangular(3.5 x 6 m) está formada por el núcleo técnico y muros de CLT. 2-Cubierta, pirámide truncada estructurada con LVL cuenta con un tragaluz. El concepto es unir y articular 2 especies de madera(roble y abedul) a través de conexiones tradicionales y contemporáneas llevándolo a sus límites estructurales. La pieza se compone de una estructura ligera de abedul que su finalidad es dar soporte y articular 4 bloques masivos de madera de roble previamente laminados, estos, se quiebran&nbsp; y visibilizan la composición estructural del material. Así somos conscientes de la vulnerabilidad del material observando el sentido de sus fibras y las texturas, colores de cada una de las especies. Djoeke (Países Bajos), Sasaki san (Japón) Alexander (México) El trabajo fue diseñar una conexión de madera con 3 apoyos, que fue sometida a una prueba de esfuerzo en el laboratorio. Las especies de madera que utilicé, fueron el abeto y abedul, estos se laminaron de manera cruzada como CLT. El concepto es unir 3 piezas sin usar tornillos o pegamento. Así las piezas se apoyan entre ellas por medio de hendiduras (machihembrado) repartiendo las cargas de manera equilibrada entre todas las piezas. La estructura resistió&nbsp; 44.9 KN, siendo el más resistente hasta ahora dentro del Wood Program. Augusto H. Àlvarez en la década de 1970, ubicado en la Av. Insurgentes, una de las calles más demandadas de la Ciudad de México. El edificio fue destinado a espacios de oficinas y está habitado como tal. Planta libre de frente con todas las circulaciones y servicios al fondo. La estructura principal está formada por columnas de acero, vigas de acero aligeradas y losas de hormigón armado. La sencillez de su sistema constructivo lo convierte en un espacio ideal para reconfiguraciones. El proyecto surge de la necesidad de una reconversión debido a la crisis económica que siguió a la pandemia del Covid-19, el objetivo principal es transformar los espacios de oficinas en unidades residenciales. El principal desafío de este proyecto no radicaba en sus dificultades arquitectónicas sino en garantizar su viabilidad económica. Esta tarea influyó en el concepto de diseño y la selección de materiales. Encontrar el equilibrio de estos dos abrió nuevos caminos y soluciones impensadas. El resultado es una distribución más eficiente del espacio y los recursos. construcción ligera, compuesta por una serie de productos que ofrecen una solución energéticamente eficiente y personalizable de expansión de estructuras existentes cuyo resultado logra edificaciones ambientalmente responsables y rápidas de construir. Dirigida a espacios residuales subdesarrollados dentro de la ciudad, CASA es una opción viable para la densificación inmediata dentro de la ciudad que disminuye el costo del terreno. Se implanta cerca de los medios de transporte masivos, reduce la distancia entre las personas y sus actividades. Regenera un ecosistema degradado a escala local, aumentando la resiliencia para enfrentar el inminente cambio climático y las futuras crisis económicas y energéticas globales. Cuando me acerco a este objeto, veo una abertura. Una vez frente a la abertura, veo pequeños pasos. Al final algo más grande me atrae. Veo un trozo de paisaje porque está algo escondido por una cortina. En el penúltimo escalón cruzó la cortina. Y finalmente veo un gran paisaje. Este impresionante paisaje parece estar a mi alcance. ¡Estoy en la cima y me siento como el rey del mundo! Esta pequeña aventura refleja el descubrimiento de un paisaje enmarcado por árboles. Sí, primero en el camino nos atrae un trozo de paisaje. Nos acercamos y vemos que se esconde entre los árboles. Es una vez que pasas que puedes ver el gran paisaje. A través de la cabaña hemos querido recrear los diferentes planos que existen en el lugar. La orientación dada al elemento de madera recuerda la verticalidad de los árboles. Y esta fina cortina que separa los dos espacios recuerda a estos árboles que filtran la vista. Una vez pasado se puede admirar el paisaje en su totalidad. Además, la presencia de esta cortina permite crear un espacio íntimo una vez en la plataforma. Un espacio secreto lejos de todo. Las fachadas no están cerradas, lo que crea un ambiente luminoso, una sensación de confort donde puedes sentir que los árboles están alrededor estés donde estés. El acercarme a desarrollar mobiliario, me ha permitido llegar a un nivel de detalle en el ámbito constructivo, ya que se necesita llegar a dimensiones muy precisas para generar ensambles o para poder trabajar con herramientas manuales o digitales. Por otra parte, he tenido un contacto cercano con los materiales ya que uno aprende más sobre sus propiedades, ventajas o desventajas y hace del diseñador alguien más sensible para poder materializar ideas. En el taller también realicé varias terrazas para las azoteas (2015) en México. La idea es mostrar cómo con pocos recursos es posible crear un espacio útil y transformar la azotea. Se utilizaron materiales ligeros y renovables como la madera para convertir las azoteas en un espacio vital que podemos disfrutar en esta megalópolis.
